A Lenda de Garuda
Um dia, a mãe de Garuda e a mãe dos Nagas fizeram uma aposta sobre qual seria a cor do cavalo divino que emergia da batedura do oceano. Quem perdesse tornar-se-ia prisioneira da outra. A mãe dos Nagas venceu a aposta.
Determinando-se a libertar a sua mãe, Garuda foi até aos Nagas e perguntou o que poderia fazer para a libertar. Estes responderam que teria de roubar e entregar-lhes a água da imortalidade dos Deuses.
Garuda voou até à montanha onde a água estava guardada e, para a obter, enfrentou um exército de Deuses e dois Dragões que protegiam o elixir da imortalidade.
Após cumprir a missão, entregou a água aos Nagas, que libertaram a sua mãe. No entanto, antes que os Nagas pudessem beber, os Deuses recuperaram a tão sagrada água.
Assim, Garuda tornou-se o emblema nacional da Tailândia.

The Legend of Garuda
One day, Garuda’s mother and the mother of the Nagas made a bet about the colour of the divine horse emerging from the churning of the ocean. The one who lost would become the other’s prisoner. The mother of the Nagas won.
Determined to free his mother, Garuda approached the Nagas and asked what he could do to secure her release. They told him he would have to steal and deliver the water of immortality from the gods.
Garuda flew to the mountain where the sacred water was kept. To obtain it, he had to face an army of gods and two dragons guarding the elixir of immortality.
After succeeding, Garuda delivered the water to the Nagas, who then freed his mother. However, before the Nagas could drink it, the gods reclaimed the sacred water.
From that day on, Garuda became the national emblem of Thailand.
