Liderado por um pianista emergente das novas gerações do jazz norte-americano, o Lex Korten Quintet reúne um conjunto multinacional de músicos sedeados em Nova Iorque, cidade que continua ainda hoje a ser o pólo aglutinador principal do fenómeno jazzístico global. Além do seu líder, este ensemble é formado por Nicola Caminiti no saxofone, Sabeth Pérez na voz, Adam Olszewski no contrabaixo e Miguel Russell na bateria.
O pianista e compositor Lex Korten cresceu em Nova Iorque e prosseguiu estudos académicos na Universidade do Michigan, onde teve como mentores algumas figuras importantes do jazz como Geri Allen, Robert Hurst e Benny Green. Após o regresso à sua cidade nativa, Korten dá início ao seu trajeto profissional como músico e, em 2018, é recrutado para integrar o sexteto Unfiltered liderado por Tyshawn Sorey, baterista com quem gravou em estúdio e atuou ao vivo durante os quatro anos seguintes, cimentando a sua reputação no circuito jazzístico. Desde então, o pianista envolveu-se em inúmeras colaborações com músicos prestigiados – Melissa Aldana, Jaleel Shaw, Clarence Penn e John Ellis, entre outros – assim como com aqueles que com ele formam a geração emergente na segunda década do século XXI, tais como Milena Casaado, Ben Tiberio, Alex Hitchcock ou Dave Adewumi. Entre os projetos liderados por Lex Korten podemos destacar o quinteto “Canopy”, ensemble com quem gravou em 2025 o seu álbum de estreia em nome próprio.
Nicola Caminiti é um saxofonista, compositor e arranjador italiano multipremiado que, mesmo considerando a sua relativa juventude, apresenta um historial prestigiado de atividade no circuito profissional jazzístico. Ao longo da última década, Caminiti teve a oportunidade de trabalhar criativamente com nomes de relevo do jazz contemporâneo como Seamus Blake, Gilad Hekselman ou Dayna Stephens, e, apesar de atualmente sedeado em Nova Iorque, continua ativo na cena musical de Itália enquanto membro de formações lideradas por músicos italianos como Emanuele Primavera ou Michelangelo Scandroglio.
A vocalista e compositora germano-argentina Sabeth Pérez inaugurou precocemente o seu trajeto musical, tendo começado a colaborar aos 13 anos de idade com a WDR Big Band, formação com a qual mantém até hoje uma relação criativa. Ao longo do tempo, Pérez colaborou com outras orquestras de prestígio (Frankfut Radio Big Band e EOS Chamber Orchestra, entre outros ensembles) e trabalhou com vários nomes relevantes do jazz atual, como Ingrid Jensen ou Theo Bleckmann. No plano autoral, Sabeth Pérez editou até à data um registo discográfico (“Searchig for Beauty”, 2025) ao qual se sucederá “La Adivina”, um álbum previsto para ser lançado em 2027, no qual a vocalista será acompanhada pela WDR Big Band.
Adam Olszewski é um contrabaixista formado pela Universidade do Michigan, onde teve a oportunidade de tocar com grandes nomes do jazz como Jimmy Cobb, Conrad Herwig ou Rufus Reid, e encontra-se atualmente a frequentar a prestigiada Julliard School. O seu currículo profissional contempla até ao momento a participação na big band liderada por Christian McBride e a colaboração com o saxofonista Jason Hainsworth no contexto do projeto “Third Ward Stories”, que marcou a estreia discográfica do contrabaixista, em 2016. Em paralelo, Olszewslki lidera o seu próprio sexteto, com o qual gravou o álbum “Songs for Six” (2020).
Nascido em Nova Iorque, o baterista Miguel Russell cresceu no estado norte-americano da Flórida, onde iniciou os seus estudos em música, que prosseguiu a um nível superior na Manhattan School of Music sob a tutoria de Kendrick Scott. Apesar da sua juventude, Russell apresenta já um historial discográfico assinalável, materializado em oito álbuns lançados nos últimos dois anos e em colaborações com vários músicos importantes do jazz contemporâneo como Wynton Marsalis ou Paquito D’Rivera, sendo também atualmente membro do trio liderado pelo pianista Jahari Stampley.

Led by an emerging pianist from the new generations of North American jazz, the Lex Korten Quintet brings together a multinational group of musicians based in New York, a city that continues to be the main hub of the global jazz phenomenon. In addition to its leader, this ensemble is formed by Nicola Caminiti on saxophone, Sabeth Pérez on vocals, Adam Olszewski on double bass and Miguel Russell on drums.
Pianist and composer Lex Korten grew up in New York and pursued academic studies at the University of Michigan, where he was mentored by important jazz figures such as Geri Allen, Robert Hurst and Benny Green. After returning to his native city, Korten began his professional career as a musician and, in 2018, was recruited to join the Unfiltered sextet led by drummer Tyshawn Sorey, with whom he recorded in the studio and performed live over the following four years, establishing his reputation on the jazz circuit. Since then, the pianist has been involved in numerous collaborations with prestigious musicians – Melissa Aldana, Jaleel Shaw, Clarence Penn and John Ellis, among others – as well as with those who form, alongside him, the emerging generation of the second decade of the 21st century, such as Milena Casaado, Ben Tiberio, Alex Hitchcock and Dave Adewumi. Among the projects led by Lex Korten, the “Canopy” quintet stands out, an ensemble with which he recorded his debut album under his own name in 2025.
Nicola Caminiti is a multi-award-winning Italian saxophonist, composer and arranger who, despite his relative youth, has already established a prestigious record of activity on the professional jazz circuit. Over the past decade, Caminiti has had the opportunity to work creatively with prominent names in contemporary jazz such as Seamus Blake, Gilad Hekselman and Dayna Stephens, and, although currently based in New York, he remains active on the Italian music scene as a member of groups led by Italian musicians such as Emanuele Primavera and Michelangelo Scandroglio.
German-Argentine vocalist and composer Sabeth Pérez began her musical career at an early age, having started collaborating with the WDR Big Band at the age of 13, an ensemble with which she continues to maintain a creative relationship to this day. Over time, Pérez has collaborated with other prestigious orchestras (Frankfurt Radio Big Band and EOS Chamber Orchestra, among other ensembles) and worked with several prominent names in contemporary jazz, such as Ingrid Jensen and Theo Bleckmann. As a recording artist, Sabeth Pérez has so far released one album (“Searchig for Beauty”, 2025), to be followed by “La Adivina”, an album scheduled for release in 2027, on which the vocalist will be accompanied by the WDR Big Band.
Adam Olszewski is a double bassist who graduated from the University of Michigan, where he had the opportunity to play with major jazz figures such as Jimmy Cobb, Conrad Herwig and Rufus Reid, and is currently studying at the prestigious Juilliard School. His professional résumé includes participation in the big band led by Christian McBride and collaboration with saxophonist Jason Hainsworth as part of the “Third Ward Stories” project, which marked the double bassist’s recording debut in 2016. At the same time, Olszewski leads his own sextet, with which he recorded the album “Songs for Six” (2020).
Born in New York, drummer Miguel Russell grew up in the US state of Florida, where he began his musical studies, which he continued at higher level at the Manhattan School of Music under the guidance of Kendrick Scott. Despite his youth, Russell already has a notable discography, with eight albums released over the past two years and collaborations with several important figures in contemporary jazz such as Wynton Marsalis and Paquito D’Rivera. He is also currently a member of the trio led by pianist Jahari Stampley.
