A partir da mistura entre a energia da produtora Nídia e o universo inventivo da percussionista Valentina Magaletti nasceu Estradas (2024), uma celebração universal de ritmo editada pela londrina Latency. Os encontros das artistas pela estrada são uma partilha surpreendente de urgência, que bebe inevitavelmente dos contextos criativos muito diferentes das duas: de um lado Nídia, vinda do universo fervilhante da Príncipe, do outro Magaletti da música exploratória, onde encontra colaborações em Holy Tongue, Moin ou CZN. Estradas (2024), disco que trazem à terceira edição do INDEX, é feito de síncopes hipnóticas, linhas de marimba incandescentes, guinadas rítmicas e uma inventividade saudável nos arranjos harmónicos, em temas para o corpo e para a memória.

Há mais de uma década Supa tem vindo a enriquecer a paisagem musical portuguesa. Não pertence à primeira geração de DJs femininas do Porto, mas é uma das fundadoras do primeiro coletivo de género da cidade a afirmar-se nas cabines de clubes nacionais, a Grrrl Riot. É, também, membro fundador da Thug Unicorn, evento pioneiro em Portugal com foco em questões sociais e políticas, que percorreu o país desde festivais até aos clubes underground, deixando uma marca indelével no conceito de clubbing nacional. De uma versatilidade rara, Supa já partilhou a cabine com DJs consagrados como Helena Hauff, John Talabot, Simo Cell, ISAbella ou Sherelle, mas também com artistas sonoros e performers de música exploratória como Steven Warwick, Invernomuto e Ice Boy Violet, provando que a fronteira entre o clássico e a vanguarda é um limbo onde se sente confortável.

From the meeting between the energy of producer Nídia and the inventive universe of percussionist Valentina Magaletti came Estradas (2024), a universal celebration of rhythm released by the London-based label Latency. Their encounters on the road become a surprising exchange of urgency, drawing from the very different creative contexts of both artists: on one side Nídia, emerging from the vibrant Príncipe scene; on the other, Magaletti from the exploratory music world, with collaborations in Holy Tongue, Moin and CZN. Estradas (2024), the record they bring to the third edition of INDEX, is built on hypnotic syncopations, incandescent marimba lines, rhythmic turns and inventive harmonic arrangements, in compositions for the body and memory.
Supa (DJ set)
For over a decade, Supa has been contributing to the Portuguese music landscape. Not part of the first generation of female DJs in Porto, she is one of the founders of the city’s first gender-based collective to establish itself in national club booths, Grrrl Riot. She is also a founding member of Thug Unicorn, a pioneering event in Portugal focused on social and political issues, which has travelled across the country from festivals to underground clubs, leaving a lasting mark on the concept of national clubbing. With rare versatility, Supa has shared the booth with established DJs such as Helena Hauff, John Talabot, Simo Cell, ISAbella and Sherelle, as well as sound artists and performers from the exploratory music scene like Steven Warwick, Invernomuto and Ice Boy Violet, proving that the boundary between the classic and the avant-garde is a space where she feels at ease.
