Com direção e apresentação de Martim Sousa Tavares, a Orquestra do Algarve apresenta um espetáculo que estreará em solo nacional duas obras de dois dos maiores compositores do nosso tempo.
De John Luther Adams, compositor e ecologista vencedor de um Pulitzer e autor de um catálogo onde música e natureza se fundem na mesma paleta, dá-se a ouvir a estreia nacional de 'Become River', parte da trilogia 'Become', compostas também pelas obras 'Become Ocean' e 'Become Desert'.
De Philip Glass, mestre do minimalismo, a Orquestra do Algarve dará a ouvir a fascinante partitura de 'Águas da Amazónia'. Os primeiros oito andamentos representam oito rios que atravessam a maior floresta do mundo. O nono e último representa o rio Amazonas, gloriosa fonte de vida no planeta e núcleo de inspiração para o compositor.
O Contraponto é um ciclo dedicado à composição dos séculos XX e XXI, onde convidamos ensembles e compositores locais, nacionais e internacionais para nos guiarem pela música de um dos períodos mais férteis em novas ideias e formas.

With direction and presentation by Martim Sousa Tavares, Orquestra do Algarve presents a concert that marks the national premiere of two works by two of the greatest composers of our time.
By John Luther Adams, Pulitzer Prize-winning composer and ecologist, whose catalogue merges music and nature within the same palette, the programme features the national premiere of 'Become River', part of the 'Become' trilogy, which also includes 'Become Ocean' and 'Become Desert'.
By Philip Glass, master of minimalism, the orchestra performs the compelling score of 'Águas da Amazónia'. The first eight movements represent eight rivers that cross the largest forest in the world. The ninth and final movement represents the Amazon River, a glorious source of life on the planet and a core inspiration for the composer.
Contraponto is a cycle dedicated to composition from the 20th and 21st centuries, inviting local, national and international ensembles and composers to guide audiences through the music of one of the most fertile periods of new ideas and forms.
