A violinista e diretora artística Rakhi Singh, uma das vozes mais originais da cena musical britânica e cofundadora do Manchester Collective, chega ao Theatro Circo para se juntar à Sinfonietta de Braga num programa do ciclo Contraponto que une contemplação, intensidade e espiritualidade.
Neste concerto, as cordas tornam-se veículo de paisagem e transcendência. Em Canticles of the Sky, de John Luther Adams, camadas sonoras em lenta transformação evocam o respirar do céu e a vastidão cósmica. Na sua recriação do hino latino Veni Creator Spiritus, Singh transforma a voz ancestral em textura viva, dissolvendo a melodia em ecos e ressonâncias de poderosa força litúrgica. Já no Quarteto de Cordas n.º 2 Quasi una fantasia, de Henryk Górecki, ouvimos uma viagem interior, onde energia rítmica e silêncio se entrelaçam num arco de solenidade quase ritual.
Três visões distintas — cósmica, litúrgica e introspetiva — cruzam-se neste encontro, onde tradição e criação contemporânea dialogam em busca de luz, memória e transcendência.
O Contraponto é um ciclo dedicado à composição dos séculos XX e XXI, onde convidamos ensembles e compositores locais, nacionais e internacionais para nos guiarem pela música de um dos períodos mais férteis em novas ideias e formas.

Violinist and artistic director Rakhi Singh, one of the most original voices in the British music scene and co-founder of the Manchester Collective, arrives at Theatro Circo to join the Sinfonietta de Braga in a programme from the Contraponto cycle that brings together contemplation, intensity and spirituality.
In this concert, the strings become a vehicle for landscape and transcendence. In Canticles of the Sky, by John Luther Adams, slowly shifting layers of sound evoke the breathing of the sky and the vastness of the cosmos. In her reimagining of the Latin hymn Veni Creator Spiritus, Singh transforms the ancestral voice into a living texture, dissolving the melody into echoes and resonances of powerful liturgical force. In String Quartet No. 2 Quasi una fantasia, by Henryk Górecki, we hear an inner journey where rhythmic energy and silence intertwine in an arc of almost ritual solemnity.
Three distinct visions — cosmic, liturgical and introspective — meet in this encounter, where tradition and contemporary creation engage in dialogue in search of light, memory and transcendence.
Contraponto is a cycle dedicated to composition from the 20th and 21st centuries, where ensembles and composers from the local, national and international scenes are invited to guide us through the music of one of the most fertile periods of new ideas and forms.
